“Mystical Forest Goddess”The lotus flower blooms and rises from dirty, muddy waters symbolizing spiritual growth and enlightenment as well as divine feminine energy. This goddess is a mystical creature of enchanted forests and a keeper of ancient knowledge and wisdom.“Luna Park”After many months of backpacking, I spontaneously landed in Melbourne, Australia. Every day, I would pass the historic and slightly creepy amusement park called Luna Park during my walk to and from my St. Kilda flat (that I could barely afford) as I desperately searched for a job to no avail. Every day, the Luna Park clown face taunted and laughed at my jobless, pathetic existence…too broke to even afford a coaster ride. Determined to have the last laugh, I spent my last day in Melbourne and my last dime conquering Luna Park and riding that coaster.“Something Wicked”This painting was inspired by the Ray Bradbury novel Something Wicked This Way Comes. I loved that story as a child and was always inspired by the mental imagery of a dark carnival or evil circus. I was listening to The Beatles quite a bit while working on this painting, and found more inspiration from the song “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!”
Striving to reflect the immersive and dreamlike experience of painting, I paint to provide the viewer an escape from reality into the playful, fantastical realm of imagination.
Portals, pathways, and fantasy elements can often be found in my paintings. The pieces featured here reflect these elements in their own unique ways. I draw my inspiration from experiences traveling, fantasy film and literature, and childhood.
